Job Descriptions

Registration/ Athlete check-in

Our registration volunteers are the first point of contact for our participants. Your role will involve handing out packs with race numbers/ swim caps etc. Answering questions about the event. There will be maps, wave starts and event schedules available for you to direct them to.  We like our registration volunteers to be cheery as some athletes may be a bit nervous. You may also be setting up and packing registration down. It’s a great role to interact with everyone.

 Aid Station Attendant

This role involves setting up the run aid station which will dispense cups or bottles of water to athletes.  As per our COVID guidelines we are not able to hand the drinks to the athletes, they must help themselves. Your role is to keep the aid station topped up with drinks on the tables. We also need volunteers to pick up discards and dispose of them safely. You will be out on the run course and it is a great way to be part of the race. We encourage our volunteers to cheer the athletes on as some are getting tired by this stage.

 Course Marshall

This role is the eyes and ears for the Race Director as they cannot be everywhere. Course Marshals direct athletes and make sure they are going the right way. They also keep paths clear and help people get through crossing points without anyone getting injured. If you have a nice strong voice, this is a good role for you. You will report to the Course Manager if there is a problem with people on course or if there is an injured athlete, etc.

 Finish Line Volunteers

Volunteers in this role will be maintaining a table with hydration on it. As above, we are not able to hand refreshments to the athletes, they must self-serve. You will need to keep the table topped up so they can do so. You will also be congratulating athletes as they come across the line and directing them through so that the finish line does not get clogged up. If athletes look unwell, please direct them to Medical which will be located at the finish line. If you are an enthusiastic person and are happy to spend the morning on your feet, then this is the role for you.

 Kids Race Marshall

If you like helping children and enjoy a bit of chaos, then this the role for you. Parents are not allowed to help. So as volunteers you are helping the kids get their helmets/shoes etc. on and making sure they head out of transition in the right direction. Some of the bikes are a bit heavy and the kickstands get stuck so the duties include just generally helping them out. It is a fun 90 minutes but also very busy. For some of these kids is the first time they have been to a triathlon so it’s an important role to help them out and ensure a great first experience.
